I love the ominous ending and the methodical way this story is playing out.

There were a couple words that were unfamiliar to me that I had to look up (namely unshriven), so it's educational too!

Thanks, Matt! Entertaining and educational? Watch out bestseller lists, here I come! But for real, that’s high praise, man.

I have to say you are so great at giving an individual voice to every story, it’s so excellent to see and makes each world you write it feel so unique and alive

Thank you so much!!! That’s something I try really hard to do. 🤍

Very excited about this, dude. As others have mentioned, you have a wonderful varied vocabulary

Thank you! It was really fun trying to make it sound more archaic but still understandable.

The word choices and the phrasing, so well done. Getting Tombstone vibes. I loved this chapter.

🤠 Thanks, Ed! Tombstone is one of my favorite movies, whether we’re talking westerns or not (right up there with Waking Ned Devine and Shawshank Redemption).

Tombstone and Shawshank are at the top of my list. I haven’t seen Waking Ned Devine. Maybe I should.

It’s great, imo. Very worth the watch.

Everything is so vivid in my mind and I think that has less to do with descriptions and more with pace of story and word efficiency.

I lost track of time reading this. Another great chapter!

Woooo! That’s high praise, thank you. Getting lost in a story is one of the best feelings (for me, at any rate, lol).

RM Greta's avatar

Yes! I love snapping out of it and realizing I was only reading and not there in person 😆

Right?! I remember when I was a kid and could spend most of the day just reading, coking out of a story like that felt like coming up from deep water or something. Normal family things felt kinda surreal for a little while.

I'd be so zoned out with my head elsewhere. Our brains are really cool that way! (And scary)
